DESTINUS

Destinus was built around a hard reality: modern defense is shaped by the age of mass-produced threats. ORGANISERS

1 (FR) Corps

NATO-certified French headquarters

Established on July 1st, 2005, the 1 (FR) Corps (formerly the Rapid Reaction Corps-France) is a NATO-certified French headquarters capable of commanding a national or multinational land component of up to 120 000 personnel.
Reactive and open to the world, the 1 (FR) Corps is a purpose-built organisation designed to tackle the complexity of military operations in the early twenty-first century.

Multinational

Besides France, the 1 (FR) Corps’ framework nation, thirteen allied nations contribute to the staff manning on a permanent basis, representing around 20% of the staff. This cultural diversity is a true gateway to the world, leading to more effective results. Everything is done to draw on the military experience of each nation. Ongoing exchanges are made easier by the use of English as a common working language.

Open to the world

As a multinational headquarters subordinated to the Land Force and Operations Command (CFOT), the 1 (FR) Corps is open to all EU and NATO members. Alongside other French Land Forces Headquarters, it allows France to meet its international defence and security commitments. It is intended for engagement in a multinational environment under a NATO, EU or French mandate. This has happened several times in Afghanistan and in Africa, with a participation in EUFOR (European Union Force), ISAF (International Security Assistance Force), and Operation Barkhane in the Sahel.

Permanent

The 1 (FR) Corps reinforces French and Allied headquarters deployed in overseas theatres of operations, to the tune of 20 to 40 personnel each year. In France, it commits more than 100 personnel each year (including reservists) to Operation Sentinelle, the French counterterrorism operation.
